European governing body Uefa are investigating videos that appear to show Celtic Supporters singing sectarian songs outside the Nou Camp in Barcelona.
The songs are said to have been sung before the last 16 match in the Champions League on March 4.
Spanish side Barcelona won the match 1-0 and went through 4-2 on aggregate.
A Uefa spokesman said: “"We have received some footage showing Celtic supporters singing some alleged anti-Queen and pro-IRA songs - sectarian songs. If the investigation is conclusive, a disciplinary case would be opened."
Several videos have been brought to Uefa's attention, including film of supporters at the 'fan-zone' designated for travelling supporters.
"We take care of all manifestations of sectarian singing. The only condition is that it must be in the immediate surrounding area of the stadium. There was also alleged sectarian singing inside the stadium” added the spokesman.
This is not the first time that a Scottish club has been involved in investigations as a result of sectarian chanting.
City rivals Rangers were fined £8,280 by Uefa last season as a result of their fans sectarian chants after their last 16 game with Spanish club Osasuna. The footage was uncovered on the YouTube website.
The match against Osasuna was also in the news for hooliganism as Rangers supporters clashed with Spanish police.
At the time many travelling fans accused the police of heavy-handed tactics, or even brutality.
It was later revealed that several supporters who were banned from Ibrox had made the trip to Spain and gained entry to the El Sadar Stadium.
But Celtic and Rangers have more on their minds as they prepare for the second old firm derby of the season, which is to be played on Saturday 29 March.
Team news ahead of the game is that Rangers have confirmed that they will give late fitness tests club captain Barry Ferguson, Christian Dailly, Lee McCulloch and Allan McGregor.
Dailly has a broken toe while the others have an assortment of knocks, and missed Scotland's friendly with Croatia on Wednesday.
Celtic are injury free and welcome back defender Bobo Balde to the squad for the trip to Ibrox s after recovering from an injury sustained at the African Cup of Nations.
Midfielder Barry Robson is fit to play, having also missed out for Scotland.
The Celtic internationalists (Stephen McManus, Paul Hartley, Gary Caldwell and Scott Brown) who played for Scotland on Wednesday have all come through medical checks and passed fit for the Old Firm derby.
Uefa has confirmed that it will be watching the derby match and hopes there will be no sectarian chanting by either set of supporters or action will be taken.
