Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is fast becoming Europe's hottest property once again as it appears his club, Real Madrid, are looking to offload the Dutch international.
Real only signed the striker themselves in January, beating off a whole host of competition, but with the likes of Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo joining the Madrid ranks recently, it appears Huntelaar is no longer needed at the Bernabeu. Huntelaar to Leave Real MadridMadrid's intent to sell Huntelaar became apparent in early July, when the club accepted a bid from German side Vfb Stuttgart (believed to be £15 million) and allowed him to discuss personal terms. After long drawn out discussions between Huntelaar and Stuttgart, the Bundesliga outfit called off negotiations having failed to agree a salary for the player. Although Stuttgart didn't confirm anything, it seems Huntelaar's wage demands were simply too high for the club who have been looking for a replacement for departed hitman Mario Gomez. Since the deal was broken off, a number of other clubs have started to inquire about Huntelaar's availability - and it's no surprise why. Huntelaar's Goal Scoring RecordHuntelaar's main quality as a player is undoubtedly his impressive ability in front of goal. A natural finisher, in a similar mould to Ruud Van Nistelrooy, Huntelaar is an all round goal scorer who can finish in any style (right foot, left foot, head). His goal scoring record speaks for itself. Huntelaar first caught the eye at Dutch side Heerenveen, where he scored an impressive 33 times in 46 league appearances. His prolific form saw him move to childhood heroes Ajax where he was even more impressive. He racked up a staggering 76 goals in 92 Eredivisie games, twice finishing as the leagues top scorer. Even in his brief time at Real Madrid, Huntelaar amassed 9 a respectable 9 goals in 20 appearances despite playing mostly from the bench. His international form is equally lethal. In his time with the Holland Under 21 side, Huntelaar scored 18 goals in just 22 games and helped his country win the 2006 Under 21 European Championships. Since stepping up to the senior squad, he has managed 13 goals in 23 caps so far and more are sure to follow. This amazing goal scoring record is partly why many top clubs are courting the Dutch star. Clubs Looking to Sign Huntelaar Real Madrid are clearly willing to sell Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and a price tag of between £15-£18 million is unlikely to put off potential suitors. So far, Stuttgart are the only club to have formally bid for the 25 year old striker. However, since their agreement broke down, the German club look unlikely to be Huntelaar's next destination. Of the plethora of clubs interested, only Tottenham and AC Milan have admitted an interest. It is rumoured however, that the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United are considering bidding for his signature along with a handful of German and French sides and his previous club Ajax - who may offer a loan deal. The transfer saga may end up being the longest of the summer, but whoever manages to capture the signature of Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is certainly getting one of Europe's best strikers.
